Bears on Patrol
Over the past five years, Washington, D.C. has averaged 1500 offenses a year where a child has been present. Every single day, at least four children are present during a crime being committed. It is likely this number is underreported.
This project places teddy bears into police cars so that law enforcement officers may bring comfort and a sense of safety to children impacted by the trauma that occurs in their everyday life. Having access to an object like a teddy bear in police cars can help a child cope with what they have been experiencing as well as what they have observed during moments of trauma.
